From infection-specific immune pathways and their impairment, to infection-triggered inflammation | Diagnostics | Targeted and cellular therapeutic strategies.
Join the Interplay 2027 scientific programme of ESID, ESCMID and ESPID to examine infection and immunity as interconnected clinical and biological challenges. Be part of building common grounds across our specialties to improve patient diagnosis and outcomes in adults and kids.
Across educational cases, expert keynotes, scientific sessions, abstract presentations, and multidisciplinary discussion, you will explore the connected immune mechanisms, infectious susceptibility, diagnostics, prophylaxis and treatment. You will gain insights from inborn errors of immunity, primary and secondary immune disorders, and examine infection from paediatric and adult perspectives.
Whether you come from immunology, infectious diseases, clinical microbiology, pediatrics, the ICU, laboratory diagnostics, other medical specialties, or basic research, Interplay 2027 provides a shared programme for the questions no single discipline can answer alone.
First high level programme highlights
- Interactive Educational Day Sessions on HLH: Immunology and (pediatric &) infectious diseases perspectives.
- What infections can teach us about immunity.
- Coevolution of pathogens and human immunity.
- From defective molecular pathways to infection, and back.
- Genetic determinants in infection beyond IEI/PID.
- Novel diagnostics in infectious diseases and in immunology.
- The interplay of therapy and prophylaxis with immunity.
- Future Perspectives: Getting ready for the next pandemic.
Keynote speakers confirmed
Three keynote lectures will set the scene:
Steven Holland (NIH) will speak on CGD and beyond: what infections teach us about immunity.
Lluis Quintana-Murci (Pasteur Institute) will address the coevolution of pathogens and human immunity.
Sir Andrew Pollard (Oxford) will discuss how we can be ready for the next pandemic, from fast-track vaccines to the identification of host factors.
